Police: 3 Arrested In Sex-For-Cash Operation In Old City

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Three women were arrested Wednesday afternoon on prostitution-related charges in the basement of a building in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood.

Police say the basement of the building at 42 South 3rd Street is where a sex for cash operation was taking place.

Detectives with Philadelphia's Human Trafficking Task Force were seen taking evidence from the building, including paraphernalia, towels, lotion and more than $2,000 in cash.

Detectives say they also went through computers and security cameras inside.

Residents in the neighborhood and those who work nearby tell FOX 29's Shawnette Wilson that everyone knows what happens in the area and they want it to stop.

Police say they've been to this same place seven times since 1998 and have made more than 25 arrests.

One man inside Wednesday was questioned but not charged.

Police say they didn't have enough evidence to arrest him.
