Video shows security breach at Sky Harbor

PHOENIX -

She's accused of crashing the security gates surrounding Sky Harbor Airport.

Police say Koko Anderson took a wild ride through Sky Harbor, plowing past barriers into unauthorized areas, and she had her newborn in the back seat during the wild ride.

What was she thinking? And how was she able to get in there?

This is a bizarre story, but surveillance video just released will show this was all perfect timing.

If this happened 5 second later, she never would've got past the gate. It just so happens this gate was being fixed right at the time she crashed through.

At first she doesn't make it past, but Anderson doesn't give up. With her 2-month old son in the backseat, she hits the gas and speeds onto the runway.

It all started in the east economy lot right next to terminal 4. For some reason Anderson was driving around this lot when she decided to leave. Only she didn't pay, she blew right through this security arm.

The security arm comes right off with little or no damage to the car. Anderson keeps driving. Police say she was driving under the influence, didn't know where she was, or that her baby was even in the car with her.

Driving out of the east economy lot you can only go left to catch the freeways. The problem is Anderson went straight and right into gate 119.

Gate 119 has two layers of security. Seconds before Anderson pulled up, a worker just happened to be fixing the gate. He lifted the steel security arm and opened the gate. As it was closing, Anderson plowed through. Police sprang into action, ramming her Saturn and stopping her in minutes.

Police arrested Anderson about a mile north of where she rammed the gate off of the northeast corner of the runway right.

Police say she had her baby's pacifier in her mouth and refused to talk to them. Anderson's mom says the 21-year-old has some mental health issues.

"I just don't want to see her in a system that doesn't validate the illness I believe she has, which is a chemical balance which is out of her control," says mother Bebe Anderson.

The 2-month-old baby wasn't hurt. He is in the custody of CPS. Anderson was jailed on charges of trespassing and DUI.
