3 people shot at Phoenix house party

Posted: Updated:

Phoenix police say three people were sent to the hospital after a shooting at a party early Saturday morning. One victim had a gunshot wound to the head.

The 911 calls started coming in around 2 a.m.  Callers reported gunfire in the area of Mitchell Drive and 63rd Avenue where a house party was taking place.

"I seen two, I seen a male and a female that's it. I didn't know who they were but after that, life got--life got pretty real," said Abel Ajla, a witness.

Witnesses described a confrontation out on the street moments before the victims, a man and a woman in their early 20's, were shot.

The suspect, a 21-year old man who was still firing his weapon when police arrived, got help on his own.
"During our investigation, a third victim went to another hospital with gunshot wounds we believe is possibly the suspect," said Sgt. Alan Pfohl with Phoenix Police Department.

"I wake up my husband and he come to the door and two guys running, that's scary for the neighborhood," said Sonya Iscoa, a neighbor.

A mom of seven, iscoa is worried the violence will only get worse.

So does Eddie Lopez, he says this time it hit too close to home.

"What are you thinking when you look at this bullet hole in your window? It could have been my head," said Lopez.

Neighbors tell us they heard anywhere from 20 to 25 gunshots and the evidence indicates they could be right. Shell casings liter the street just East of where the party took place.

Police will use this evidence to determine exactly what kind of guns were used.

The shots were heard blocks away. Investigators confirm two weapons were recovered, one automatic rifle and possibly an AK-47.

Police told FOX 10 they have been called out to the home before but not for shots fired.

All three people shot are expected to be okay. Their names are not being released at this time.
