Ardmore's Michael McKeeman raced across the finish line first at the 19th annual Philadelphia Marathon. His unofficial time 2:17:50. Just shy of the record set in 2003.
Russia's Irina Mashkantceva sprinted to a women's record finish. Clocking in at an unofficial time of 2:35:35. Beating last year's record setting pace by eleven seconds.
Marathon officials are reporting a record number of runners this year. About 31,000 registered runners. Nearly 28,000 of those took part in the half and full marathons.
Among them more than 1,400 runners who were registered to run in New York City's Marathon that was canceled because of Hurricane Sandy.
City officials say nine people were taken to hospitals for dehydration and exhaustion issues.
