DETROIT (WJBK) -- Music was blaring and shoppers were dancing and stockpiling bread and treats Monday at the Hostess outlet on Oakwood in Detroit.
The Fontella Bass song "Rescue Me" playing in the background was bitter sweet irony.
Two CupCakes could be had for $0.45, but all the Twinkies and Ding Dongs were gone.
Meanwhile, at the Hostess outlet on Tireman, a handwritten sign with a frowning face on the door announces the location is permanently closed.
There were also no Twinkies or CupCakes aboard a big rig trailer we came across that was destined for Toledo. Instead, it was transporting empty racks.
