KEANSBURG, N.J. -

Victims of Hurricane Sandy who are trying to rebuild are getting some help from an unlikely place.

A group of teens from Mississippi who survived the horrors of Hurricane Katrina are helping people in New Jersey get back on their feet.

Three weeks after Sandy ripped through Keansburg, there's hard work at hand and the people doing the hard work are from the deep South.

"We had four feet of water in our house and lots of people came and helped us, so we want to pay back the people who helped us," Mississippi volunteer Craig Christensen said.

The group drove 25 hours with an SUV, UHaul and a minivan just to help victims in New Jersey.

The Mississippi volunteers say they want people in New Jersey to know they are more than willing to do what it takes to help victims start over.

The volunteers say they plan to work in New Jersey for a week. The volunteers are giving up their Thanksgiving holiday time off just to help.
