Chester County Firefighter Dies Day After Fighting Fire

Posted: Updated:
CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. -

A Chester County firefighter has died 24 hours after fighting a fire.

Fire officials say Captain Chris Good, 36, was working to put out a fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon at a home in West Goshen.

Fire officials say Good, who was a volunteer firefighter, was not injured in the fire and returned to his full-time job at a metal plant the next day.

When he returned home after work, fire officials say he collapsed.

His death comes just before a trip he had organized to the Jersey Shore to help in the Sandy recovery effort.

Captain Good was part of the Good Will Fire Company of West Chester. Flags outside of the station were lowered in his memory Wednesday.

Good, who was affectionately known as "Goody," became a firefighter because of his father's influence and to help his West Chester community.
