Montgomery County made it through Tuesday's snowstorm without any major problems on the roadways, according to PennDOT. A Fox 29 crew drove Route 422 in the middle of the day Tuesday, and it turned out to be not as difficult as you might expect when it's snowing.
The day didn't start out as promising though, as kids headed to school. Cindy Chirillo described conditions early this morning. "Very icy, snow-covered roads," Chirillo told Fox 29. "No crews were out yet," Chirillo continued. "We didn't see crews until on the way home."
We asked Brandon Johnston of Phoenixville, PA, how he would rate driving conditions on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the worst. "This morning when I left for work it was probably like three to four, coming down a lot harder. Now, on the way home, doesn't seem to be too bad."
A couple of inches accumulated by about 1:30 in Sanatoga, near the outlet mall and the nuclear power plant. But before it could get really bad, the snowflakes turned into raindrops, creating an awkward situation for one homeowner in Phoenixville. "Yes, it is a little odd for me to be raking leaves and shoveling at the same time."
The mix of snow and rain ruled out a snow blower, so Simonetti had no choice but to shovel. Despite the coat of white on his driveway, he doesn't see it as an omen for the winter to come. "We should not have as much snow as some of the past winters," Simonetti predicted. "But it's going to be colder." Fox 29 wanted to know, did Simonetti see Tuesday's snowfall as a bad sign. "No this is not a bad sign."

Today's weather? Cloudy, muggy, and eventually, stormy. If you get a strong to severe storm, it would probably be lat afternoon and evening. Highs in the upper 70s. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.
This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
