2012 New York City Gridlock Alert Days

As usual around the holidays, New York City has designated several so-called Gridlock Alerts Days. The Department of Transportation encourages people to leave their cars at home and take mass transit to ease the increased congestion and gridlock that historically occurs from the week before Thanksgiving until after New Year's Day.

The city's Holiday Traffic Plan also an embargo on non-emergency construction through the holiday season and right turn restrictions and temporary adjustments to parking regulations at key locations in Midtown Manhattan to reduce congestion.
