People lose things at Sky Harbor Airport every day, but one passengers lost item has garnered an unusual amount of attention.
Sky Harbor has been inundated with calls and messages from all over the world asking if it's been found.
What's the item? A hat.
This is the picture Bridget Hughes posted on Facebook. She is wearing the hat that she somehow misplaced at Sky Harbor.
The hat belonged to her mother -- who died of cancer when she was just 7 years old back in 1997.
Hughes was at Sky Harbor waiting for her flight home to New Mexico. When her flight was canceled, she says she lost it in the scramble to make new travel plans.
Now her plea for help in finding it -- has been shared more than 50 thousand times on Facebook.
"We have been overwhelmed with calls, phone calls, tweets, emails… we answer every single email and call so our staff is overwhelmed with concern from citizens to report Bridgett's hat," says Sky Harbor spokesperson Deborah Ostreicher.
Ostreicher says the lost and found team is well aware of the missing hat.
"Our heart goes out to Bridgett Hughes we are thinking of her, we know this is really important to her."
They have scoured the airport and searched all their unclaimed items.
"We are certainly doing everything we can to find her item; in fact that's what we do for every item that we find."
But so far, the hat hasn't turned up, but they will continue to look. Bridgett will continue to hope.
