SURPRISE, Ariz. -

A retired police officer has been arrested in a road rage incident where he allegedly pointed a gun at another driver.

54-year-old Frank Anthony Marin is facing charges of weapons misconduct, threatening, and endangerment.

It happened Tuesday morning in the area of Cotton Lane and Greenway Road in Surprise. The victim called police to say another driver pointed a Glock 27 at him.

Officers arrived and contacted the suspect driver, identified as Marin. Police say he at first denied having a handgun and didn't tell the officer he was a retired police officer and a current reserve officer until after acknowledging he had a gun.

The gun was found underneath the seat with a fully loaded magazine. Marin denied displaying that gun to another driver, but couldn't explain how the victim knew he had a gun and what it looked like, according to court documents.

The victim's wife, son, and daughter were in the car at the time.
