This week we shared the story of Santa Bob -- our very own St. Nick here in the desert. But his mission to help needy kids was cut short by his need for a new set of wheels. His sleigh stopped working.

But now he's back to his gift giving ways thanks to some generous FOX 10 viewers.

Scottsdale's own Santa Bob would like to focus solely on spreading Christmas cheer this time of year.

"I'm going back to the north pole this weekend cause I've got to get back. Snappy and Stumpy are my two favorite elves, they've been having all kinds of problems with those machines making those toys," chortled Santa Bob.

But the machine he's had the most trouble with is his 2005 Dodge Caravan -- his sleigh that's in need of a major overhaul.

You see, Santa Bob loves helping less fortunate kids celebrate and he's given gifts to more than 500 families over the years. We shared his story and you, the viewers, answered the call to get help Santa on his way.

The good folks at Larry Harker Auto Repair sent a tow truck from their west side shop to pick up Santa Bob's set of wheels. Since our story aired, he's gotten more than 50 calls with offers of assistance of every kind.

A quick crosstown trip and Santa Bob's ride is ready for its close up.

Whether you call it a one horse open sleigh or eight reindeer-power, whatever it is, they've got the hood open, they're going to check out the problem and get Santa back on his way. So many kids and so many families depend on him this time of year.

"We love him, we love him, feels like we've been friends for a long time," said Ellen Frisby of Larry Harker Auto Repair.

Ellen and Bob Frisby offered to fix the van free of charge. It's the kind of generosity Santa Bob's used to giving out, but now he's on the receiving end.

"My husband Bob looked at me and said would you like to do that? I said let's do it I got up right away and Santa has to give out toys to all the kids and we can't let the kids down," says Ellen.

You can still help those kids by sponsoring a family this year and you'll even be able to help Santa with the delivery.

"I'm very grateful," said Santa Bob.
