Police in Newark say a 28-year-old University of Delaware student was kicked and punched by two suspects who then stole her purse early Saturday morning.

The attack happened along the sidewalk of North College Avenue, just north of the CSX rail crossing.

Police say around 5 a.m., a 28-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when two men approached her, kicked and punched her and knocked her to the ground.

Police say the two men continued to kick and punch her and then left with her purse.

At one point, the victim was knocked unconscious.

Police say the student suffered severe trauma to her face, including a broken nose and orbital lobe.

Police describe the two men as white males, 19-22 years of age. One of the suspects is described as standing 5'8" tall while the other is said to be between 5'9" and 5'11" tall.
