Nursing home worker accused of stealing from residents

A former nursing home employee is accused of stealing jewelry from residents of the Long Island facility.

Suffolk County Police arrested Ashley Cancemi, 24, of Shirley on Monday.

Police say she worked at Cedar Lodge Nursing home in Center Moriches and stole to support a drug habit.

Cancemi is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and drugs.

Police said she pawned the items that were taken between July 20 and July 29.

Cancemi was arraigned in Central Islip on Tuesday.
