Couple dead in three-alarm house fire in La Grange

LAGRANGE PARK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
An man and a woman are dead from an extra-alarm house fire early Saturday in west suburban La Grange.
The La Grange Fire Department was notified of the blaze in the 900 block of South Kensington Avenue shortly after 1:30 a.m. The fire was raised to a 3-11 alarm, which brought in assistance from several neighboring fire departments.
Two people were hospitalized from the house fire, La Grange Fire Department Captain Dave Rapp said. One of the injured, an unidentified man believed to be in his 90s, was pronounced dead at La Grange Hospital at 3:32 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. A unidentified woman, whose approximate age was not immediately known, was pronounced dead at 5:18 a.m. at La Grange Hospital, the medical examiner's office said.
The house sustained heavy fire and structural damage, a fire lieutenant said.
No firefighters were injured while fighting the fire, the lieutenant said.
The fire was out at approximately 3:45 p.m., the lieutenant said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
