SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -
FOX 10's Kari Lake was out Saturday night proudly hosting the 14th annual holiday Festival of Trees.
The event raises money for the Arizona Burn Foundation.
Special guest JR Martinez, a burn survivor, joined Kari. The Iraq war veteran gained notoriety on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."
He talked to Kari about the day his Humvee caught fire in Iraq.
"All of a sudden, my front left tire runs over a land mine, a road side bomb and literally, here I am trapped inside the truck, yelling and screaming at the top of my lungs," he said.
Martinez says he heard his sister's voice, telling him he was needed -- then he was pulled from the flames.
He is now a motivational speaker, helping burn survivors.
The Arizona Burn Foundation benefits several programs, including the Arizona Children's Burn Camp, Forever Courage House and social services for burn survivors and their families.
