FRIDLEY, Minn. (KMSP) -
Anoka County authorities are asking the public to help them unravel the mystery of what left a young man bloody and unconscious along the side of the road.
The 23-year-old victim was discovered at about 3 a.m. on the side of Highway 65 in Fridley on Saturday. He was found lying in some snow on the side of the road near a few gas stations and a mobile home park.
At first, officers believed the man may have been a victim of a hit-and-run, but they say his injuries are not consistent with a crash because only his head appeared battered, as though he had been beaten.
Investigators are still trying to locate witnesses, and they are also looking for information on a damaged, recent-model black Cadillac Escalade with recent rear-end damage.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at 763-323-5000.
The man did have ID on his person; however, police have not released his identity. He remains in critical condition at HCMC.
