An ad salesman who works for a local radio station started a quest to be the new face of Applebees as a joke, but thanks to a social media explosion, it's now being taken seriously by the restaurant company.
Northeast Philly's own Kevin Matuszak believes he should be the new face of Applebees.
His quest started two weeks ago after he "liked" an Applebees new beer pub pretzel ad that popped up on his Facebook page.
Matuszak says he then asked the company to give him a job.
The restaurant chain didn't respond, but friends and strangers certainly did.
One person even created the hashtag "#HireKevin."
Matuszak took it a step further when he shot his own video campaign in the City of Brotherly Love. His friends followed, with songs such as "Hire Kevin."
Even a spoof of Brad Pitt's "Chanel" ad popped up.
All of it got the company's attention and a written response on Facebook that read "I'm impressed, definitely going to show this stream to the marketing team."
"I've been going to Applebees my whole life, I figure I can be their new face," Matuszak told FOX 29's Lauren Cohn.
An Applebees spokesperson tells FOX 29 the company is flying Matuszak out for an interview in Kansas City after the first of the year.
Matuszak now has a few weeks to work on his pitch.

Still feels like summer out there. Highs in the mid 80s today. Just like summer, it'll be humid, with a chance of a few spotty showers late in the day.
Tomorrow, strong thunderstorms move through, from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. That front will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
