PHOENIX (AP) - A judge is refusing to temporarily block his ruling that federal drug
laws don't stand in the way of implementing Arizona's medical marijuana
law.
A Maricopa County Superior Court spokesman says
Judge Michael Gordon on Thursday denied County Attorney Bill
Montgomery's request to suspend the ruling pending the outcome of an
appeal to a higher court.
Montgomery says he'll ask the Court of Appeals for a stay.
Meanwhile, Arizona's top medical marijuana
regulator says the state will allow newly licensed dispensaries to delay
opening so they can acquire marijuana supplies.
It's a response to a situation that a lawyer for
operators says amounts to a "Catch 22" in which operators aren't allowed
to grow marijuana before being licensed but are supposed to have
inventory on hand when they open.
