Germantown High students say the school district's decision to close school doesn't make the grade.

Many students like Sophomore Ariel James give their teachers high marks for tailoring curriculum to fit her needs.

"They teach you by the levels you're on and it's easier to understand," explained James. "That's why I like it."

The Northwest Philadelphia High School is one of 37-schools the district is recommending be shut down by June 30, 2012.

Students will be allowed to transfer to high schools citywide or go to neighborhood schools.

Carol Garner's worried about her daughter, Tatyana's safety.

Next year she'll likely have to go to King academy--the nearest  neighborhood school.

They get in fights here and now you want to blend them in with each other-- it's not a good thing."

Dwindling enrollment and major repairs needed are part of the reason why the district is looking to close Germantown High.

The school was gearing up for their 100 year anniversary in 2015.

That likely won't happen.

The school Bill Cosby and boxer Bernard Hopkins attended will likely be shut down next year.
