Posted: Updated:
ATLANTIC COUNTY, N.J. -

An 18-year-old man died Monday afternoon in an officer involved shooting in Atlantic City.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, the 18-year-old was one of two armed suspects during an incident at the Stanley Holmes Village Apartment Complex.

Investigators say police were called to the complex Monday afternoon on the report of two men who were armed.

When the two suspects were spotted by police, investigators say they ordered them to drop their weapons.

One man, a 24-year-old, followed the officer's command, but the other man, the 18-year-old, ran away, investigators said.

According to the prosecutor's office, a police pursuit ended on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where a uniformed officer allegedly fired shots, wounding the suspect.

Investigators say the man was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The other man was taken into custody.
