EASTCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Police in suburban New York say a 37-year-old woman threatened to kill the superintendent of schools during a meeting with the superintendent and her daughter's elementary school principal.
The Journal News reports that Rita Oteri of Eastchester was charged with third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
Police said Oteri lunged at Superintendent Marilyn Terranova during the meeting Monday and screamed, "I'll kill you! I'll kill you."
Oteri was arraigned in Town Court and released without bail.
The judge asked her if she owned a gun, and she said, "I have a tattoo of a gun." She said she did not own an actual gun.
Eastchester Detective Sgt. Matthew Kiernan said last week's school shooting in Newtown, Conn. did not factor in the charge.
He called Oteri's behavior "totally inappropriate."
