It's Official! Andy Reid Is The New Head Coach Of The Chiefs

PHILADELPHIA -

Well that was fast. One of the first NFL coaches fired is the first to land a new job.

Andy Reid has officially agreed with the Kansas City Chiefs to become their new head coach.

As of Monday morning, Andy Reid was still officially the Eagles' head coach. And now, just four days later, he's reached a deal with the Chiefs.

Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt and his wife flew into Philadelphia by private charter Friday to greet Reid and fly him and his wife, Tammy, back to Kansas City.

The Chiefs made it official Friday night. They even tweeted out a picture of Reid and Hunt signing the paperwork.

This came just hours after Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli was fired.

Basically, that's the final piece of the puzzle for Reid, who wants to bring in his own GM.

So now "Big Red" will pick that person and most likely bring a slew of his coaching staff from the Eagles to the Chiefs.

FOX 29's Howard Eskin reports that there are a couple of GM possibilities out there, including Tom Gamble, the son of former Eagles president Harry Gamble.

And Reid has talked to four coaches about coming with him to K.C., Eskin also reported.

Former Eagles quarterback and current QBs coach Doug Pederson is the highest profile.

The Eagles won't let allow former Eagles running back and current RB coach Duce Staley to leave, as he's still under contract.

Reid has also reportedly offered former Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo a position on his staff as offensive line coach, which was his prior job with the Birds.

Meanwhile, the Eagles' search for a new head coach continues.

Out of the running is Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien. He's staying at PSU after sources say he's getting $1.3 million more per year, raising his total take to $3.7 million, Eskin says. O'Brien's wife also wanted to stay.

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, congratulated Reid via the Eagles' website.

"Congratulations to Clark Hunt and the Kansas City Chiefs for hiring a good man and a good coach," Lurie said. "We wish Andy, Tammy and their entire family all the best in their new home."

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
