Could society be leaving behind Instagram already? It seems plausible with Snapchat on the rise.
Snapchat is the hottest new photo app for smartphone owners, especially popular with teens and individuals in their 20s.
The mobile app lets users share images or videos with friends. However, the media will eventually disappear depending on how long the user allows their friend to view it.
Snapchat was released a little over a year ago and has been quietly gathering millions of users.
Some are calling it the next Instagram, while critics say it's simply a tool for sexting.
As of last week, Snapchat was the 6th most popular free app for Apple's mobile devices. Last month, Facebook rolled out a similar app called "Poke."
