CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
One more thing, about the worst idea I've heard in a long time.
The state plans to rebuild the circle interchange west of the Loop. That's not the bad idea. It's the part where the Illinois Department of Transportation said part of it could become a toll road. Oh, that will really speed things up!
We're talking about the always congested point where the Eisenhower, Ryan, and Kennedy converge. The project, if approved, would cost about $400 million. IDOT says they're considering installing a managed lane at the interchange, meaning it could either be restricted to cars with more than one person, or tolled so drivers would pay during peak times. Can you imagine the additional back-up a toll booth would create here?
And by the way, when are the tollways going to be paid for? Weren't all those tolls they collect from us every day supposed to eventually pay for those roads? What's the date they become free? Until we have that information, please don't give us another toll road.
