DETROIT (WJBK) -- Dante Cook says he was robbed of everything, including his food, then shot in the arm after leaving a Detroit restaurant Friday night.  It could be weeks before he regains full use of his right hand.

"They ran up behind me with the gun [and] forced me in the alley," he says.  "Told me put my hands up against the wall.  Told me it wasn't a game.  They'd kill me."

Cook was followed from M. George's Coney Island on Seven Mile and Van Dyke.  He was there to pick up his dinner -- a 21 piece shrimp platter.

"They took all the belongings that I had on me.  They took my food and my drink," he says.

Cook says the thieves then told him to run.

"As I started to run, all I could hear was 'run faster' and they started shooting at me."

"It burnt like a mother-scratcher," he says describing getting shot.  "A burning sensation that I wouldn't want [anybody] else to feel."

Cook hid in a dark, muddy corner and grabbed a stick for protection.  He wanted to make sure the thieves didn't follow him home to terrorize his wife and special needs son.

"My prayer is that these two brothers can turn [themselves] to Christ and find out the right way to live in life," says Cook.
