The early and aggressive onset of this year's flu has caused the Camden County Freeholders to add more flu shot clinics to the calendar.
"The best way to avoid the flu is to get immunized," said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, a liaison to the Camden County Health Department. Rodriguez added the county will continue to host clinic locations until the vaccine supply runs out.
Shots were given Wednesday at the Cherry Hill municipal building, but people who did not receive the vaccine can still do so at the following times and locations:
• Jan. 17 - Camden City Hall, 520 Market Street, 9 a.m. to noon.
• Jan. 18—Gloucester Township Municipal Building, 1261 Chews Landing Road in Blackwood, 9 a.m. to noon.
• Jan. 23—Stratford Senior/Community Center, 302 Union Avenue, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Jan. 28—Bellmawr Regional Health Center, 35 Browning Road, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Many other places around the region are providing flu shots. Delaware County will host a free clinic Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Penn State Brandywine campus.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released a statement Jan. 4 to say that most of the country is now experiencing high levels of flu-like illness, but despite the nationwide epidemic many children across the country aren't getting flu shots.
According to a study published in Pediatrics journal, fewer than 45 percent of kids under age 5 get a flu shot and one-in-six kids who went to the ER during flu season had the virus.
The CDC recommends all children over the age of 6-months get a flu shot. Shots are also highly recommended to Senior Citizens, pregnant women and people with chronic illness.

Rain moved in Saturday afternoon and the chance for it will stick around through the seven day forecast.
It becomes very unsettled across our area with clounds and showers again Sunday. The best chance for rain is in the morning and afternoon thunderstorms are possible towards our south.
Sunday is cool but we do warm up well into the 80s by Tuesday. With the warm weather comes a better chance for thunderstorms.
