PHILADELPHIA -

While in the Philadelphia area and the suburbs it's most cloudy, it's a much different story for areas to our south and east.

A Winter Storm warning remains in effect for Sussex County, Delaware through 4 a.m. Friday.

FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams says Philadelphia, points north and west, will remain dry. But areas in South Jersey to the extreme south will eventually see rain start to snow.

As of now, temperatures are still above freezing, but more intense precipitation and colder air will allow the rain to change into snow.

According to the National Weather Service, rain and some sleet are expected to mix with snow late Thursday afternoon but will then change to snow by Thursday night.

Roads and walkways could become covered with snow and could result in hazardous conditions.

In Kent County, Delaware, a Winter Weather advisory remains in effect until 4 a.m. with the chance for 1-2 inches of snow.

Winter Weather advisories are also in effect for parts of South Jersey, including Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland Counties.
