Indicted NJ mayor plans to attend Obama inaugural

Posted: Updated:

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - An aide says the indicted mayor of New Jersey's capital plans to attend President Barack Obama's inauguration despite travel restrictions.

Trenton Mayor Tony Mack is in Washington.

Aide Anthony Roberts tells the Times of Trenton Mack attended the U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting earlier this week and plans to attend Monday's inauguration.

Mack's travel is restricted as a condition of his $150,000 bail on federal corruption charges. It's not known if federal authorities approved the trip.

Mack has pleaded not guilty to six counts related to what prosecutors say was a scheme to accept $119,000 in bribes in exchange for using his influence over the development of a parking garage on city-owned land.
