Child hurt in fall from chair lift at NY ski area

FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 7-year-old child has been injured after falling from a chair lift at a ski area in western New York.

WIVB-TV in Buffalo reports that the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says the child fell around 9 p.m. Thursday from a lift at the Peak N' Peek Resort and Spa in the town of French Creek, on the Pennsylvania border in New York's southwestern corner.

Deputies say the child was taken by ambulance to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa. The sheriff's office says no other information, including the child's condition, is immediately available Friday morning.

A message left at Peek N' Peak's offices wasn't immediately returned.
