DETROIT (WJBK) -- He was one of the Wayne State football team's most beloved players.  News of Serxho Guraleci's passing has rocked the Warrior football family.

"I feel so bad for him, for his family, for the teammates who love him so much.  Emotionally, it just wrecks you," said head football coach Paul Winters.

Guraleci was a 2012 All-Conference Second Team selection, so he was real good on the field.  Off the field, he was just a flat out great guy.  At the banquet last month, he was awarded the "Cortez" Smith award, which is given to the player that exemplifies the most character.

Guraleci was a defensive tackle and finished his four year career with the Warriors in November.  He played in all 48 games during his career.

Around 3:00 p.m. on Monday, the team gathered for a meeting at the football facility.

"We talked about being a family and having someone that you can talk to," Winters said.

Guraleci was said to have been in perfect health.  He passed all his physicals.  He also carried a high grade point average and was set to graduate this year.
