SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -- Inspired by his deaf brother-in-law, George Elwell founded his Waterford-based Silent Call Communications company in 1987.
Since then, they have been designing and manufacturing devices to help those who are hard of hearing, deaf and even deaf-blind, lead more independent lives in their homes. The devices alert users of a fire, a phone ring, or even if there's someone at the door.
