Signal problems caused CTA delays in the Loop, service restored

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Signal problems at two spots in the Loop caused delays on the CTA's Orange, Brown, Pink, Green, and Purple Line trains Thursday morning.
The signal problems occurred at the Van Buren/Wabash and Lake/Wells junctions, a CTA alert said.
Purple Line Express trains were rerouted to the Brown Line (outer platforms) in the Loop only, the alert said.
Some Pink Line trains were being turned back at Ashland/Lake to 54th/Cermak because of a backlog of trains going into the Loop.
By about 8:40 a.m. service had been restored to normal and the reroutes were canceled, but riders were advised to expect some residual delays and longer than normal wait times for trains in all directions because of the backlog.
