Hikers who love Camelback Mountain's Echo Canyon trail might want to head there this weekend. That's because the popular trail is shutting down next week until fall.
Trail improvements and parking problems will be addressed during the closure.
The closure means more hikers will be on the other side of the mountain -- Cholla Trail -- which may create a different problem.
Residents in the neighborhood are concerned about parking and hikers' safety.
"Some people are running, some people are walking and so yeah we're thankful nobody's been hit cause cars go really fast up and down here too and sometimes hikers have their iPods," says resident Jody Moman.
Fences will go up Monday to mark Echo Canyon's closure.
"It's going to suck cause there will be too many people here, and it just won't be enjoyable for 9 months, that's the problem," says hiker Annie King.
