It started as a fistfight, but police say an altercation ended in a Berlin neighborhood ended with a man shot in the stomach by an arrow fired from a compound bow.
According to investigators, the incident happened Monday night along the first block of North Brill Avenue.
Police say two men, Kereti Paulsen and another resident, got into a fistfight. When the fight broke up, police say everyone but Paulsen went back inside.
Another man, 25-year-old Timothy Canfield who was not involved in the fistfight, walked outside carrying a compound bow and a quiver of arrows, police said.
Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk and Berlin Borough Police Chief Robert Carrara say Canfield has been charged with murder in connection to the death of Paulsen, who was from Cape May Court House.
Police say Canfield admitted he drove out to a wooded area in Winslow and disposed of the bow and arrows. Investigators later found the arrows Tuesday.
Police say an autopsy conducted Tuesday revealed the arrow perforated an iliac vein in Paulsen's pelvis.
Rain moved in Saturday afternoon and the chance for it will stick around through the seven day forecast.
It becomes very unsettled across our area with clounds and showers again Sunday. The best chance for rain is in the morning and afternoon thunderstorms are possible towards our south.
Sunday is cool but we do warm up well into the 80s by Tuesday. With the warm weather comes a better chance for thunderstorms.
