Serious traffic accident in Lakewood

A serious crash involving a commuter van and an SUV in Lakewood, N.J., has left more than a dozen people hurt, police said.

One vehicle apparently ran a red light, causing the collision, Lakewood police said Tuesday night.

As many as 15 people were hurt, some seriously, police said. Medics rushed the victims to Jersey Shore Medical Hospital and Brick Hospital and Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood.

A medical helicopter transported one victim to a hospital.

The Lakewood police and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office are investigating.
