Heavy Rain Ending Soon, But Strong Winds Will Linger

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The storm that brought howling winds and heavy rain to much of the area overnight is almost out of here.

Flood Warnings have been issued for several counties this morning. High Wind Warnings were also in effect early on for gusts up to 60 mph in some areas.

A Flash Flood Watch is also up for most of the Philadelphia area. Down at the shore, it is a flood advisory.

PECO, PSE&G, Atlantic City Electric and DelMarVa are all reporting scattered outages across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

PECO says it has extra crews out working to fix the problem as this storm system moves through the area. We'll be sure to keep you updated as power is restored.

FOX 29's Sue Serio says the rain won't be lasting too much longer. The heaviest line of heavy showers was still moving through the state of New Jersey as "Good Day" went on the air at 4 a.m.

Then, another line formed over eastern Pennsylvania and began swept through before sunrise.

What's going to linger all day is the wind. We've already seen gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour. Winds advisories are likely to last throughout the day.

Winds will continue to gust to 45 miles an hour or more.

Then, until 8 a.m., there will be a few leftover showers, but the winds going to blow everything around, and we could continue to see power outages and some wind damage.

There's plenty of ponding on the roads, so take it easy on your way in this morning.

CHECK: Latest Traffic Conditions

The rest of today we will see sunshine, but will be blustery, and temperatures will drop the rest of the day.

So we're experiencing our warmest temperatures of the day right now. The trade-off, of course, is the storm that's moving through.
