Reno City Council approves $30M deal to keep Aces

Updated:

RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Reno City Council has approved a $30 million deal to refinance the Aces Ballpark and keep the Arizona Diamondbacks' AAA minor league team from leaving town.

The developers that own the Reno Aces agreed to several changes throughout the newest round of negotiations, including giving ownership of the stadium to the city if the Pacific Coast League team leaves before the end of a 30-year lease.

The council approved the agreement Wednesday on a 5-2 vote.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the overall deal is still subject to approval of the Washoe County Commission, which is considering providing a subsidy worth up to $15 million over the course of 30 years.
