A valley mother has been arrested for drunken driving -- and her 7-year-old son was in the car with her.
38-year-old Sarah Michael was arrested on Bell Road near Interstate 17 on Friday.
According to the police report, witnesses observed her striking the median and driving over a raised planter area and exhibited signs and symptoms of alcohol and drug impairment.
When officers contacted her, they noted that her speech was slurred, she had watery, blood shot eyes and emitted an odor of alcohol from her breath while speaking.
Michael failed a field sobriety test and she refused a preliminary breath test.
In the report, police state that Michael exhibited severe mood swings, "ranging from being calm and polite to being agitated and insulting."
A Department of Public Safety officer at the crash scene determined that the rear end collision which occurred at 3:51 p.m. was caused by Michael. The vehicle's front end and hood suffered extensive damage. In the report, police state that the car's hood had bent upward, obscuring the driver's view as it was approximately 14 to 16 inches higher than it had been prior to the crash.
Michael was arrested for aggravated DUI.
