CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Sources say Alderman Sandi Jackson is now a target of the same federal investigators who initially had their sights on her husband.
When Jesse Jackson, Jr. resigned from congress two months ago, he confessed wrongdoing and acknowledged bargaining with federal prosecutors over a possible guilty plea. When wife Sandi Jackson quit the City Council last month, though, she said nothing about the federal heat that forced her to go.
A few weeks earlier, Sandi Jackson had vigorously denied FOX 32's exclusive report that she was preparing to resign. Now, we've learned more about why she did. Sources tell FOX 32 News that Sandi Jackson's joined her husband as a target of the Washington, D.C. based investigation.
Campaign funds and transfers between accounts are one focus. Sources said a prosecution decision will come "sooner rather than later;" in a matter of weeks, not months.
Jesse Jackson, Jr., resignation statement indicated the same sort of quick time line. We attempted to contact former Ald. Jackson, but got no response.
