From Fox 2 Weather Authority Rich Luterman: Clouds will thicken Thursday evening, leading to overnight snow. A few pockets of sleet are possible as the snow begins.
Most of southeast Michigan will see 3-5 inches of snow overnight, low of 27. 6+ inches are possible north of I-69.
Morning snow will quickly taper off Friday, it will be a cold, blustery day with blowing snow… high near 30.
Saturday features lots of sunshine but it stays chilly… high 26. Clouds will increase Sunday leading to some late-night rain… milder high of 36.
The National Weather service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for St. Clair County. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Genesee, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties from 7 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday.
Ben Bailey says a large patch of moisture will push up from the central plains as rain during the day Thursday. But as temperatures fall overnight, the rain will turn into freezing rain and then snow as it heads toward metro Detroit.
Bailey says precipitation is expected to increase in intensity Thursday evening and persist into the early morning hours on Friday. When all is said and done, lower accumulations will be found near the Ohio border and increase as you travel north.
Bailey says higher snow totals are expected north of Interstate 96 as 6 to 12 inches of snow could accumulate.
