CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
One man suffered minor cuts and another refused medical attention after an accident at a Lincoln Park intersection early Friday sent one of the vehicles into a bank building.
The crash happened about 4 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Fullerton Avenue, police said.
A Ford F150 pickup was heading north on Southport Avenue and a Nissan van was traveling west on Fullerton when they vehicles collided, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
The collision caused the driver of the van, a 35-year-old man, to lose control and it careened into a TCF Bank branch, police said.
The van driver was uninjured and refused medical attention, Perez said. The driver of the F-150, a 53-year-old man, suffered minor cuts and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Paramedics took him in serious but "stable" condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.
No one was in the bank at the time, Perez said.
No citations have been issued because both drivers claimed they had the right-of-way and there were no other witnesses, police said.
City inspectors were evaluating the building's structure to see if it has been compromised.
