FOX Sports: Eagles Keeping Vick, Restructure QB's Contract

PHILADELPHIA -

Michael Vick will remain with the Philadelphia Eagles after restructuring his contract with the team, according to a report from FOX Sports' NFL Insider Jay Glazer.

The Eagles have worked out the re-done contract with Vick after working on it all morning long, Glazer tweeted Monday morning.

It's a one-year deal for less than the amount the former all-pro quarterback was scheduled to make next season.

The Eagles say new head coach Chip Kelly will talk about the restructured deal during a previously-scheduled 1:30 p.m. news conference, where he is also formally announcing his assistant coaches.

According to Glazer, "Keeping Vick makes sense in Chip's new offense Eagles will run. However, i could see there still being competition at the QB spot."

FOX 29's Howard Eskin, on the other hand, said the deal could be a sign that Vick may not stay put.

"Even with the eagles restructuring @mikevick contract not so sure he will be with #Eagles this season. Easier to trade," Eskin tweeted.

Vick had a $3-million guarantee that came due last Friday. Eskin previously reported that the money was not a roster bonus. The way the original deal was set up was that whenever Vick might move on, $3 million from his contract with another team would come back to the Eagles.

So, the Eagles did not have to trade or release him by Friday. But, if they were going to move him, the team had interest in doing so sooner than later so he could get another job.

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy.  It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms.  Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.

This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
