PHILADELPHIA -

Although the clouds from Monday will open up to the sun on Tuesday, FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams is tracking a low pressure system that could drop between 2-4 inches of snow in our area Wednesday night.

Much of the Monday forecast included rain throughout the day. Areas in Philadelphia received as much as a half an inch of rain.

A low pressure system is moving out of the southeast and will make its way to the mid-Atlantic by Wednesday.

We'll start to see some clouds by Wednesday afternoon but by Wednesday evening, the low pressure system will have moved in, covering areas of South Jersey and Delaware.

By Wednesday evening, we'll start to see snow in those areas, with accumulating snow by late Wednesday night.

The system is expected to clear out of our area by Thursday morning.

Before the system arrives, we'll see sunshine Tuesday but with winds out of the west between 10-15 miles-per-hour. Wind gusts between 25-30 miles-per-hour may occur as well.

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy.  It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms.  Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.

This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
