NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Shocking video out of Newark, N.J. of a teen being forced to strip naked and then beaten has lead to the arrests of at least three people.

The boy is seen being whipped with a belt in the video which has drawn more than 40,000 viewers since it was posted to YouTube last week.

The teen was beaten over a $20 debt the boy's father owed his attacker, according to a report in The Star-Ledger.

A 19-year-old was reportedly charged with assault and robbery. The person who took the video and a third suspect were also arrested.

The girlfriend of one of the three people in custody was also arrested on an unrelated drug charge, according to the paper.

Police were on the hunt for the suspects ever since the video went viral.

Newark city officials have scheduled a news conference to announce more details about the assault on Wednesday.
