George McDonald is running for the Republican nomination for mayor of New York City.
The creator of The Doe Fund, an employment advocacy agency for the homeless started in 1990, visited Good Day NY on Thursday.
"We've done $700M in revenue since then. We've gotten tens of millions of people jobs. I believe that full employment is the answer to the economic problems we face in NYC. Our unemployment rate is almost nine percent. I have the ability to solve problems," said McDonald.
Some facts about McDonald:
The 68-year-old was born in New Jersey but has spent the last 45 years living in New York City.
He is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith College and Farleigh Dickinson University.
Worked on the 1980 presidential campaign for Sen. Edward Kennedy
