Police Search For Society Hill 'Skimming' Suspects

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia police are searching for a man and a woman they believe are involved in a "skimming" incident that led to $1,000 in fraudulent charges in the city's Society Hill neighborhood.

According to police, the unauthorized charges were made on a woman's credit card account between February 6 and February 8.

When the woman noticed the unauthorized charges, she realized she was a victim of skimming because the credit card was still in her possession.

Skimming refers to a device that is used to read the magnetic strip on a person's credit card. The information can then be used by thieves to make unauthorized purchases.

Police say an investigation led them to surveillance video at a Game Stop on the 500 block of South Street, where a man and a  woman were seen making the purchases.

If you have any information, you're asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS or by text at 773847.
