Posted: Updated:

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Police have been searching for a robbery suspect near a Long Island high school.

Suffolk County police say a robbery was reported around noon Thursday near - but not at - Central Islip High School on Wheeler Road. So officers have been around the school.

It's unclear whether students have been affected. The school referred calls to the Central Islip school district office. Officials there didn't immediately return a telephone call.
