NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The New York Fire Department and other agencies conducted an emergency-response drill in a Metro-North Railroad tunnel on the East Side on Friday night into early Saturday.

Firefighters, MTA workers, and others tested some specialized equipment, including motorized battery-powered electric carts that run on the train tracks.

Responders practiced emergency evacuation procedures with dummies from about 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Passersby saw dozens of firefighters and other workers as well as emergency vehicles.

The drill will be repeated on March 22 and April 19.
