MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (KMSP) -
Maplewood police and Minnesota BCA agents continue to investigate the death of 16-year-old Anna Hurd of North St. Paul, whose body was found early Saturday morning in Hillside Park.
Hurd's body was found alongside a walking path in a wooded area around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Emergency responders received a 911 call saying a woman needed immediate medical attention.
By the time paramedics arrived, Hurd was pronounced dead. She had been stabbed multiple times.
Her boyfriend, Anthony Mitchell, told FOX 9 he was the person who made the 911 call. He explained Hurd left his nearby home on foot and never made it to a friend's house, so he went looking for her.
Friends, family and loved ones gathered for a candlelight vigil after sunset at the spot in Hillside Park where Anna Hurd was found.
On Sunday, Maplewood police said they are no longer searching for a person of interest initially reported to be in the park at the time of the incident.
Officers went door-to-door handing out a crime alert, asking anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.
